September in Review: Global Reach, New Milestones, and October Sneak Peek 🌟
September Highlights: From global impact to new milestones, month's achievements and what's coming in October. Catch up on all the excitement here!
Hey, Empowered Explorer!
It’s the end of the September and today is a quick review of the past month on Substack.
Did you know that October 1st is the:
275th day of the year. There are then 91 days left in 2024.
40th Tuesday of 2024.
on the 40th week of 2024 (using US standard week number calculation).
Here we are approaching a new month and closing out the last one. I don’t understand why September vanished so quickly but it was a month of intentional posting.
Was It A September to Remember?
At the end of August, I shared how I would make the upcoming month a “September to Remember” with my 90-day consistency challenge on Substack.
In September, I shared:
Hotel Reviews
Restaurant Reviews (foodies unite!)
Unplanned Adventures in Africa, Asia and Europe
and Yes, I launched my Beyond Borders Podcast launch! 🚀
I’m happy to say that I did everything I said I would in September - even though Hurricane Helene tried to throw me off track last week.
Overall, I’m pleased with my Substack presence for September. Here’s a few screenshots of my Substack stats so far. And I have a moment of truth to share:
My email open rate dropped and I became discouraged. 💔
My Subscriber count seemingly remains at a stalemate. 💔
My engagement has also appeared to have slow down. 💔
But… 😏
Somehow, I have new views from search engines! Google (7), duckduckgo.com (1 - I’ve never heard of this before!), and bing.com (1)!
9 views in total came from (what I assume to be SEO) online searches outside of the Substack app and my email list! 🎉
I know it might seem ridiculous of me to celebrate 9 views but it’s 9 more than I had two months ago when I first start tinkering around with Substack. 💯
Also, I have a more global reach as I’m up to 9 countries now and 8 states.
I see you, California. 😉 ❤️
What I did not do in September was write with a focused theme for the month, but I think I’m going to do it for the month of October.
What to Expect This October
So, I've got an exciting plan for this month - we're diving deep into the world of mindset, especially through the lens of cultural intelligence. I know you're always looking to expand your horizons, both literally and figuratively, so I think - mainly hope - this theme is going to be interesting.
How does your mindset impact your experiences abroad?
How can we cultivate a mindset that not only helps us survive but thrive in these diverse cultural settings?
Have you ever had a moment where your mindset completely shifted your travel experience?
This month, I plan to share practical tips, personal experiences (oh, I've got some doozies!), and dive into the psychology behind cultural intelligence.
I want this month to help us examine how our mindset can make us not just tourists, but true global citizens.
So, grab your favorite travel mug, curl up in that cozy reading nook I know you have, and let's take this mindset journey together. Who knows?
By the end of October, you might just revolutionize the way you approach your adventures abroad! 💪🧠🌟

Wow, what a cool, interesting and thorough post! And thank you soooo much for mentioning me!!! -- I have to say I'm in absolute awe that you can post so regularly. I'm barely managing one post a week at this point but as you well know, I have too many irons in the fire! Also--duck duck go is a search engine that doesn't track what you search, it's for online privacy and I highly recommend it over google, it's what I use :)
Thank you so much for including me in your mentions! 💕
